The IWA Podcast: The fight for second place in Wales

The latest IWA Podcast discusses the final pre-election polls.

With polling stations across Wales opening their doors in a matter of hours, the findings of the last pre-election poll have been eagerly awaited, at least by the political parties.

But the polls show little change; a secure lead by Welsh Labour, with a battle ensuing for second place between Plaid Cymru and the Welsh Conservatives. Projections for UKIP see them likely to head into a significant night for the party in Wales, while the Liberal Democrats still look likely to lose the majority of their current seats in the Senedd.

In the latest IWA Podcast Jess Blair is joined by Daran Hill, Liz Silversmith and Professor Roger Scully to discuss these final polls and offer a look ahead to Thursday night.

You can listen to the podcast below:

Jess Blair is Policy and Projects Manager for the IWA. Daran Hill is MD of Positif. Professor Roger Scully is Professor of Political Science at the Wales Governance Centre. Liz Silversmith is Head of Monitoring at News Direct.
