This timely event will be held in north Wales, in the Eric Sunderland Lecture Theatre of Bangor University, and will explore and identify different energy supply options that could meet both climate change targets and deliver maximum benefit to the region and its people.
North Wales’ huge land and natural resource potential makes the region a centre for excellence for energy generation and a powerhouse for the north Wales economy.
With a significant transition from fossil fuel based energy generation to low carbon and renewable energy based generation happening globally, the region needs to investigate all of its increasingly possible sources of energy. Maximising low carbon and renewable energy generation in the region will assist in driving benefits in a range of areas including assisting with climate change targets, decarbonising transport systems, and attracting industry to the region.
Debating the best options for the region, this discussion will focus on larger schemes such as the Wylfa Nuclear Power Station and the renewable energy wind and marine potential off the region’s coast, to the smaller-scale innovative work that the National Trust and community groups are undertaking in the area.
