IWA Smart Region Project Report Launch
Free event | 27th September 2018 | 3.30pm – 6.00pm | USW Conference Centre, Treforest Campus, Pontypridd
‘Smart’ is about more than just technology. It is a way of thinking that can improve public service delivery, enable economic growth and make sure everyone has a say in improving their communities.
Around the world, cities and communities are labelling themselves Smart as they seek to benefit from innovative uses of technology. Wales should be no exception.
A Smart region has the potential to be greater than the sum of all its people, communities, businesses, third sector organisations and institutions by:
improving the lives of citizens by giving them a say in their region’s priorities
boosting innovation and competitiveness through collaborative networks and good digital infrastructure
increasing the visibility and transparency of the region, and providing clear leadership to build a collective vision and achieve measurable improvements.
The aim of the IWA Smart Region project is to produce practical short to medium term recommendations and secure commitment to using Smart technology to maximise the positive impact of the Cardiff Capital Region for the people who live and work in the region.
We want to capture this learning so this approach can be translated to other regions of Wales and the UK.
Please join us as we highlight the great work already being done and to discuss the areas for action if the Cardiff Capital Region is to achieve its Smart potential.
This project is kindly funded by; Arup, BT, Cardiff University, Centrica, Microsoft, Next Gen Data and the Open University, and supported by the Wales Cooperative Centre, the Valleys Taskforce and y Lab.
This is a free event, but places are limited so booking is essential.
